The 5 Towns 'Alan Challinor Trophy' Mono Print Competition

Covid almost saw the death of printing at our club. The club battled to survive and used Zoom as it's secret weapon. There was no room for prints on the good ship Zoom. The practicalities and risk were too much. Over the last 5 years the club has built back up it's repertoire of printers and although not all members print, we have some who do the art skillfully.

There is something about holding a photo that really brings it to life. I myself do not print but am lucky that when I need something printing there is a host of members who can and will undertake the task. Last night was one of those times when prints were required. The annual 5 Towns Alan Challinor Trophy Mono Print Competition. This comprises of 5 local clubs battling it out for top spot. Each club can enter 12 prints. Of course as the name suggests they must be mono prints. The line up is ourselves, Whitchurch, Alsager, Crewe and Nantwich. Last year we came second and missed by a hairs breath! The last time we took the trophy was in 2016 (the competition did not run during or just after covid).

I am thrilled to announce that last night was to be our year and we won with a great score of 217 which was 90% of the maximum points we could have won. Many of our images being held back on the first run through and 4 of the final 9 were ours. The icing on the cake was that the overall winning image was also one of ours. I'm very proud to say it was actually mine! You could have bowled me over with a tripod when I heard. I could never have achieved something like this without the support and guidence of the amazing members in our club. I am proud to be part of Mid Cheshire Camera club and have grown so much in skill and confidence since becoming part of it. As you can see the images we submitted are incredible, they really are a talented bunch.
