What a brilliant selection of images we had on Wednesday evening for our Open Competition No 3 (print and PDI) at Mid Cheshire Camera Club.

​

Thanks to all who entered and congratulations to Ray Girling who won both the print and PDI competitions!

The competition was judged by Bill Preston ARPS, DPAGB, BPE5, from Ellesmere Port Photography Society who provided his critique of 56 PDI images and 18 prints. He started by saying that the quality of our entries was good on the whole, but there were some that he personally liked more than others. He suggested ways that we could improve our images, e.g., cropping, removing distractions, highlights, etc., to give the image more impact and therefore making them stronger in a competition.

 

He liked clear, simple, uncluttered images that were bright and attractive - some of our images were too dark for his personal taste. In portraits, he also preferred direct eye contact with the camera.

If you would like to join us, we are a friendly bunch and welcome new members. You can “Try before you buy!” and come for up to three sessions before you must join. A session costs £2.50 and membership is £30. We meet on a Wednesday 7.45pm and St Andrews Church, Winsford.
