Open Competition 5
Judged by: Jane Lines
Open competition five offered a fun filled night of laughter and top quality images. The room was busting at the seams, its wonderful to see the club thriving and growing. 27 members were present and 1 person on zoom. Our judge for the evening was Rebecca Entwhistle, who opened with how hard a job she was going to have, owing to the excellent quality of the club’s images. Rebecca’s judging was refreshing, laced with humour, one liners and fair and balanced feedback. Rebecca offered points to improve images along with what areas of the picture were pleasing to her. She gave a couple of interesting tips – when photographing white bird put your white balance into fluorescent and she talked about the face triangle when taking portraits, ensuring mouth, nose and eyes are pin sharp.

Once again, the difference of perspective was highlighted when prints that had previously been judged as a PDI and vice versa received very different feedback and scoring.
All in all, it was a most enjoyable night and we look forward to welcoming Rebecca back again to judge. Well done to all the winners and runners up.
